About This Song

A love song about partnership rather than possession. ❤️

The line I really like is "I refuse love lacking symmetry." To me that's the heart of the song.

Symmetry is part of a three-song series that I wrote during quarantine in the spring. I wanted the songs to feel energetic, spontaneous and in the body. Basically the opposite of what life feels like in quarantine!

Lyrics

Be my shelter
Pull me to your love
Be my shelter
Pull me to to your love

I refuse love lacking symmetry
Don’t want what I don’t give
I refuse love lacking symmetry
Don’t want what I don’t give
To you / To me / To you / To me / To you

This overflowing open faucet,
run the water,
get it started I,
I want good things for you

So slide across this living room,
easy laughter midnight June
and you: you pull good things from me

World wants to run you dry
Only wanting what you provide
But we can find another way
An easy slip to July

And if I'm gonna speak it
Might as well believe it
I'ma tell the truth,
I was in a cocoon
Now I'm in full bloom Speaking little truths like:
God I fell in a sweetest spell, cast out from your eyes

Whatcha you gonna do with that?
Whatcha you gonna do with all that honey?
Build a wall ten miles wide
Build a wall ten miles wide
